For example, an unframed portrait roughly letter size (9 x 12 in.) on primed canvas and painted in acrylics would cost approximately $300 (shipping and insurance extra if outside LA) and take roughly a week to complete. The methodology will work even if you want a portrait to cover an entire wall.
